报告一 (15:00-16:00)Plasma: enabling materials and energy conversion

Absract: Plasma, the fourth state of matter, is a partially or fully ionized gas. It has exceptional properties because its composition, density and temperature can be varied over enormous ranges. In this talk I will discuss the use of plasma in materials processing and energy conversion, such as plasma etching, plasma enhanced material deposition & modification, plasma activated extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, plasma  driven carbon dioxide conversion and so on.

主讲人简介: Aart W. Kleyn教授,荷兰皇家科学院院士、美国真空学会Fellow 、英国物理研究学会Fellow 、英国皇家化学学会Fellow ,荷兰ASML公司EUV光刻机研制项目资深合作科学家,曾任欧洲研究理事会评委会(ERC)主席、高登会议主席团成员、荷兰等离子体研究所所长、荷兰范特霍夫分子科学研究所所长等职务。长期从事等离子体刻蚀、等离子体材料合成与表面处理、温室效应气体转化利用等领域的研究工作,在Science、Nature、Angew. Chem.、Phys. Rev. Lett.等国际知名期刊发表论文380余篇,被引用超过7000次,H因子44。

 

报告二 (16:00-17:00)Twisted 2-D materials

Absract: Van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures, in which a wide range of unique atomic layers can easily be combined, offer novel prospects to engineer and manipulate quantum confined states. Here I will present two approaches to this exciting prospect. I will first present Coulomb blockade in a vdW quantum dot device with tunnel coupling to a tunable Fermionic reservoir. Hybrid excitons, composed of localized quantum dot states (in WSe2) and Fermi reservoir continuum states (in graphene), are observed due to ultra-strong spin-conserving tunnel coupling resulting from an atomically thin tunnel barrier (hBN). Secondly, I will present evidence for quantum confined states engineered by the periodic potential landscape of interlayer valley excitons in a vdW heterostructure. Here, the moiré potential of a twisted MoSe2/WSe2 heterobilayer traps interlayer excitons. We show that the trapped interlayer excitons inherit the magneto-optical properties of the type-II band-structure, opening new ways to engineer quantum confined states in vdW heterostructures.

主讲人简介: Brian D. Gerardot 教授,英国工程院新兴技术项目首席科学家,现任职英国赫瑞瓦特大学,担任量子与光电子科学学院助理院长,2018年获得英国科学院沃弗森研究功勋奖,共发表高影响力文章90篇以上,总被引用超过4800次,H因子=30,其中发表《自然》主刊3篇,《科学》主刊3篇,《自然》子刊5篇,PRL层级期刊20篇, 主持英国以及欧盟项目6项,参与主持英国量子技术国家重点研发项目‘UK Hub for Quantum Communications Technologies’ 。

 

报告三 (17:00-18:00)Optoelectronic Research at the University of Essex

Absract: In this presentation I will outline the research undertaken in my laboratories, covering the design, fabrication, and testing of new material photodetectors, the fundamental study of dilute Bismide semiconductors, and the design, and building of a new concept THz spectrometer. The technical presentation will be proceeded by a short introduction to the University of Essex. The technical presentation will be followed by some discussion on possible research areas for future collaboration between Essex and  CQUPT.

主讲人简介: Anthony J.Vickers教授,IET Fellow,英国埃塞克斯大学教授、科学与电子工程学院院长,研究领域为太赫兹传感技术、半导体激光技术、激光雷达技术及其无人驾驶应用,主持英国以及欧盟项目6,累计发表学术论文50多篇,同时负责埃塞克斯大学全校国际交流项目。
